Setup

The setup is quite simple and easy if you have a decent amount of experience in setting up home theatre systems. The instruction that comes with the receiver is very easy to follow with illustrations that make it even easier to set up. You can also call customer care if you are facing any kind of issue during setting up your receiver. Even though most people can complete this job by themselves but having a technician who knows what he is doing will be helpful in case something goes wrong or not according to plan.

Performance

AVR-X8500HA is a powerful performer when it comes to delivering audio. It can handle high impedance speakers without much trouble. In the movie section, the surround sound effects are very good and you will feel like you are in an actual theatre environment. The highs and lows of this receiver are sharp and crisp which gives you a wonderful experience while watching movies.

When it comes to music, this receiver makes sure that your listening experience stays intact by producing clear sounds for all frequencies with no distortion at all. Though there were a few issues people faced after turning off their TV's that's not a problem if you have been using HDMI ARC connection from your TV to A-X8500H because the issue was resolved by turning on the TV.

Connectivity

Denon AVR-X8500HA comes with 4 HDMI 2.0a and 3 HDMI inputs for connecting all your media devices like Blu-ray players, gaming consoles, and other video or audio sources. It has a USB port which you can use to connect an external device say a pen drive and listen to your favorite music on it through the receiver.

Also, there are three coaxial ports that allow you to watch TV using these ports instead of using cables but then again if you have an HDMI connection you will not be needing these ports in the first place. Apart from that it also houses preamp outputs along with 7 channels of speaker binding posts for powering up all your speakers or running long cable runs without compromising on audio quality.

Sound Quality

The sound quality of the Denon AVR-X8500HA is very good. The output for low frequencies is powerful enough to shake the whole floor without any distortion or sound clipping. You can literally feel that you are in an actual theatre environment while watching films on this receiver. With Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and up to 11 channels worth of amplification, each speaker produces clear sounds without any noise or hiss whatsoever.

As mentioned above, you have access to a lot of presets along with custom settings that allow you to modify your surround sound effects according to your preference. The main thing about this receiver is that it gets better when paired up with high impedance speakers so if you plan on pairing it up with some low-end ones then you should probably look for something else.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Supports 4K Ultra HD 60fps with HDR, Dolby Vision, and BT.2020 compatible

  • High-Resolution Audio compatible
  • Powerful 7 Channel Discrete Amplifier with Eco Mode Plus

Cons:

  • The only disadvantages we have found so far are small issues that aren't major but can be annoying if they are something you're concerned about.
  • Firstly, the front panel can be difficult to read at times as it's not backlit, but this is only really an issue when you first set up the receiver and should be less of a problem once everything is plugged in.
  • Secondly, the remote could be better with some users commenting on how flimsy it feels.
  • Finally, there's no built-in Bluetooth which for some people might feel like too much of a struggle having to plug in another device to play music wirelessly.

Conclusion

The Denon AVR-X8500HA is a great home theater system that has plenty of power and features for even the most complex setup. It provides the best sound quality possible in a home theater with a wide array of sockets on the rear panel, meaning you can connect your devices easily.
