The Denon AVR-X2700H is a mid-range 7.2 channel AV receiver that features Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoders, as well as HDR compatibility. Surround sound decoding formats include Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital Plus, and DTS-HD High-Resolution Audio as well as support for both FLAC and WAV lossless music files.

Two HDMI outputs are provided along with eight inputs (including one front-panel input), one set of component video switching ports, and preamp outputs to connect an optional powered subwoofer. The unit can be operated via its web app or IR remote control and includes an onscreen display (via HDMI) to show settings and playback information.

The AVR-X2700H features 11.2 channel processing, including Denon's unique MCACC room calibration system which adjusts the audio output based on speaker size and location of each speaker in relation to your listening position.

There are also more advanced sound modes available, including dialog enhancement for clearer speech, immersive surround sound effects, and an alternative low latency "music" mode for watching movies or playing games where making slight adjustments to the volume is more important than getting the most accurate surround sound reproduction.

The receiver has an HDMI input capable of accepting 4K/60p video signals with HDCP 2.2 copy protection built-in (or HDCP 1.4 if you're using DTS:X).

Design

Yamaha RX-V6A has a classic design with all the buttons placed right on the front panel which makes it nice to look at but also hard t use if you are planning to put it somewhere far from you. It supports 5.1 surround sound only by the way since there are no presets for additional speakers. The device looks very compact and fits into any room nicely regardless of its purpose or owner's preferences. All three colors (black, silver, and white) fit pretty much any interior.

Denon AVR-X2700H takes the cake here due to its modernistic design which I personally like more than Yamaha's. It has a lot of features that Yamaha doesn't have, but also lacks a bit compared to it. First thing first, I loved the led lights on this device, they look pretty cool and won't annoy you at all considering their brightness or color hue. The device itself is not as compact as Yamaha so keep that in mind if you are planning to put those side by side.

Features

Both Denon and Yamaha offer pretty much the same features. You got 4k HDR passthrough, app control, BlueTooth connectivity with both supporting AptX codecs, built-in wi-fi which is always nice to have for future-proofing, etc. But there are some differences as well. First of all, Denon has 7 channels supporting 120w each versus 6 channels that Yamaha has but they support 90 watts per channel (which is still more than enough mind you). Denon also offers 3D pass-through via HDMI while Yamaha doesn't (but doesn't really matter since not many people use it anyway). And lastly, Denon offers multi-room audio via HDMI out where Yamaha does not thus leave Yamaha behind in this department.

Sound Setup

Both devices support sound setups such as calibration and custom settings for your speakers (they can also automatically calibrate them by plugging them into the device). You can set up each one of the channels separately based on what you want to do with it. For example, you can use a different setting for movie night than for just listening music to.

The same goes for bass and treble levels and so on. The good thing about this is that if you ever change your speaker or install new ones, all of those settings will still be there since they are stored in the device itself rather than its remote which usually happens when using separate components such as amplifier + receiver + speakers.

The winner here is Denon simply due to its modernistic design which I personally like more than Yamaha's classic approach. The only drawback in this department is the number of inputs on the back, but you can always use additional devices if needed. The only downside about that is that it might be harder to find compatible ones nowadays.

Connectivity

Denon has more ports overall compared to Yamaha RX-V6A which makes it better for those who want lots of things hooked up at once. You won't have any problems with this device.

The winner here is Denon AVR-X2700H due to a lot of supported connectivity options plus a decent look on its front panel which makes it easy to use even from far away locations. Yamaha RX-V6A looks nice but lacks some features that Denon has, hence the lower score in this department. Just keep in mind that if you plan to hook up lots of devices at once, Denon is your choice as it had more ports than Yamaha RX-V6A.

The winner here is Denon AVR-X2700H simply due to its modernistic design which I personally like more than Yamaha's classic approach. However, if you are looking for additional features or multi-room audio then Yamaha might be enough for you.
